Conventions
You spend a lot of time planning and preparing for your annual convention.
Somewhere in all that planning you should also be making sure that you
have set your annual business meeting up for success! The right kind
of planning in advance can pay big dividends during the meeting... and
when the meeting goes well, everyone goes away proud to be a member
of such a fantastic association.
Pre-convention services include
agenda development, bylaw amendment preparation and notices, election,
ballot and tally preparation, script review, PowerPoint slides, officer
training, staging, resolutions editing, rules drafting/editing, and
general problem-solving.
During the convention, services
include member training,
consulting with members, officers, and staff to solve problems before
they escalate; helping the presiding officer answer questions and solve
problems during the meeting; assisting tellers in tallying votes and
reporting results; and specific problem-solving.
After the convention, services
include making changes to bylaws and other documents and providing hard-copy,
disc, and electronic copies of newly-revised documents; preparing or
reviewing minutes; and helping turn out the lights after everyone goes
home!
Board Meetings
Board processes have come under increased scrutiny in recent years.
Although board meetings involve fewer people than convention assemblies,
the magnitude and effect of decisions made can be far greater. A board
that sets appropriate goals and expectations and engages an impartial
professional to attend meetings stays on track, gets far more accomplished,
and can provide documentation that stands up if challenged.
